Developing self-compassion

August 2015, Epuyen, Patagonia, Argentina

Alejandra Almada facilitated a one-day workshop, based on awareness of discomfort and pain, delivered with the aim of developing skilful ways to relate to oneself.

The main frame was to develop a kind and loving awareness towards oneself. What does it mean to be kind and compassionate to oneself? What is the difference between self-indulgence and self-compassion? How does self-compassion make me a more compassionate person?

We deepened our awareness, allowing what arises to be there without self-judgement. The attendees included Mariana Chaves (national award winner for developing a space for the mentally disabled and founder of Casa Amanecer, an early childhood initiative); social worker Lucio; and Laia Fancelli, who cares for the elderly.

Follow up from this workshop is the second TMM Support Group in Argentina, which has now met 3 times.
