FDCW is committed to supporting the flourishing of Universal Education for Compassion and Wisdom in whatever way is most appropriate to local cultures and needs. Taking a flexible, organic and collaborative approach, it will encourage and sustain a network of local communities of learning and practice through its provision of learning programmes, follow-up and support.
Experience to date shows that after attending a learning programme, participants are often inspired to continue studying together and supporting each other’s Universal Education-inspired activities and aspirations. In some places - to date, Canada, France, Italy, Mexico - these groups have begun to develop their own strategies and identity.
Our long-term vision is for an international network of FDCW local groups, who will:
- host learning programmes
- disseminate FDCW news and publications (and where appropriate, assist with translation)
- provide opportunities for peer learning and support
- develop and implement regional and national strategies
FDCW is in the process of consulting with local groups to define roles and responsibilities. Where appropriate, these will include liaising and collaborating with the centres and projects of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), to which FDCW is affiliated.
Please contact us if you are interested in setting up or joining a local group.
