SUMMARY:Meditations & Reflections for Mindful Parenting Organized by Maitreya Institute
DESCRIPTION:“Discover calm\, connection & confidence – For you and your family\nAbout the Sessions\nJoin us for a series of guided meditations and reflections for parents\, inspired by the 16 Guidelines for Life from the Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom (FDCW) – practical\, compassionate meditations to support you in raising more resilient\, kind\, and self-aware children in a complex world. Based on the perspective that parenting is a practice\, not a perfection\, by being patient and kind with yourself as you grow alongside your children \nIn this first module\, through short\, accessible sessions\, you’ll explore the powerful guidelines patience\, kindness\, forgiveness\, and right speech—not just as ideals\, but as living tools to bring more calm and connection into your home. \n\n\nWhy it might help you\nParenting can feel overwhelming\, reactive\, and lonely at times. These sessions help you reconnect with your own values and inner resources\, to support you to parent with more a bit more clarity\, calm\, and confidence—even in the messiest moments. You’ll begin to respond rather than react\, become more emotional resilient yourself\, and start to create a more peaceful environment for your family. \nWhether you’re navigating toddler tantrums\, teenage storms\, or simply seeking more grounded parenting\, this series offers a safe space to pause\, reflect\, and grow—with a community of like-minded parents guided by the Australian Buddhist monk\, former high school teacher and parent of two adult children Ven. Gönpo. \nSet-up\nThe series is divided in 4 modules with each 4 meditations. You will receive guidance to reflect and practice during the week in your daily family life. No prior meditation experience needed. Just curiosity\, and a willingness to show up for yourself and your family. \nPractical information\n\nDates: Every 2 weeks on Sunday morning – Oct 26\, 9th Nov\, 23 Nov and 7 Dec. . \nTiming: 10.00 – 11.00 am\nLocation: online only via Zoom\nLanguage: English \nReflection materials and recordings: you will be given reflection questions and guidance to reflect for yourself and also with your family and a link to the audio recordings of the meditations.\nLast-minute registration: Please also send an email to amsterdam@maitreya.nl\, to ensure we can send you the necessary Zoom link in time to join the class.\n\n\n\nHow you can Practice Generosity\n\nDāna (generosity) is one of the cornerstones of the Buddhist path. With your donation we uphold our Dharma center & program\, which is managed entirely by volunteers. \nThe suggested donation for the 4 meditations €25. \nFor students and people with low income\, the suggested donation is €15. Please send us an email (amsterdam@maitreya.nl) if you’d like to make use of this option. \nKeep in mind that the donation amount should never be an obstacle to your access to the Dharma. Please contact us if it might be an obstacle for you. \nFacilitator\nVen. Gönpo is  an accredited FDCW facilitator and a Buddhist monk based in Australia. He  discovered Buddhism as a child through martial arts movies and TV shows\, this was the inspiration for the childhood dream of becoming a wandering kung fu monk. It was a few decades before part of that dream could be realized with many other life adventures distracting him from the spiritual path in his teens and twenties. \nIt wasn’t until he was in his thirties that Gönpo began to really understand the power of Buddhist teachings when he used them to navigate the emotional roller-coaster of life’s many experiences such as a marriage break down and raising children alone. Fortunately\, due the kindness of his teachers and great good karma\, after his children finished school\, Gönpo was able to fulfil the long-held dream of becoming a monk\, albeit without the kung fu. Ending a 20-year career as a high school teacher of languages\, he become a wandering monk spending time studying and meditating in Europe\, India and Nepal before returning to his hometown\, Brisbane\, to take up the role of Spiritual Care Practitioner at Karuna Hospice Services\, giving care and support to people with life limiting illnesses and their families. \nIn his time as a school teacher\, it was the feedback from students around mindfulness practices and life lessons that had the biggest impact on Gönpo\, motivating him to become a 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life facilitator. In his sessions\, Gönpo encourages discussion and deep engagement in the topics\, challenging participants to examine their own ways of thinking. Through understanding how we are now\, we are better equipped to develop the habits that will bring us closer to how we want to be\, interacting with our own minds and the people around us in ways that will make us and the communities we live in\, happier and healthier. \nMore info\nFor more information and to register please visit the Maitreya Institute website

SUMMARY:Bi-weekly Meditations for a more Peaceful Life Organized by the Centre for Wisdom and Compassion
DESCRIPTION:“Many people think excitement is happiness…. But when you are excited you are not peaceful. True happiness is based on peace.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh \nAbout the Sessions\nJoin us online for an hour to pause\, center\, and restore to a happier and more peaceful mind to support you in being a bit more resilient in a world which does not always make sense anymore. These guided meditations are to help you calm your mind\, explore your own nature and develop a more peaceful perception on life. When you are well with yourself\, you will be more able to be well with others and the world.  \nThese meditations are very practical\, they are not within a religious context\, so they are suitable for people of different beliefs\, ages and abilities\, for beginners as well as for those with more experience.  \n\n\nWhat are the meditations based on?\nThey are based on a set of values and principles aimed at helping individuals cultivate a more peaceful and meaningful life. They are divided into four categories:  \n\nhow we think (humility\, patience\, contentment and delight) \nhow we act (kindness\, honesty\, generosity and right speech) \nhow we relate to others (respect\, forgiveness\, gratitude and loyalty)\nhow we find meaning (aspiration\, principles\, service and courage). \n\nThese guidelines provide a framework for personal growth\, encouraging individuals to think\, act\, relate\, and find meaning in ways that foster a harmonious and fulfilling life. \nHow to Join\nThe sessions are offered online with a few of the sessions also being offered with the option of meeting physically in Phendeling’s rooms in Copenhagen. You will receive all details once you register. \nSchedule\nThe first 4 meditations are around How We Think – with the subtitle: Change Your Mind.

SUMMARY:In person- Meditations for a Meaningful Life Organized by the Dharmakaya Buddhist Centre
DESCRIPTION:About the Sessions\nCome to the Dharmakaya Buddhist Center for an hour to pause\, center\, and restore to a happier and more peaceful mind to support you in being a bit more resilient in a world which does not always make sense anymore. \nSchedule\nThe sessions will start on October 18th and will take place every other Saturday at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM local time. \nWhy meditate?\n\n\n\nWhen you control your mind with wisdom you create the space you need to discover peace and joy. Your life then becomes peaceful and joyful and somewhat protected from the ups and downs of the external world.

Change Your Life. \nWe will meditate on: \n\n2nd September 19.30-20.30 (online): Humility\n16th September 19.30-20.30 (online): Patience\n30th September 19.00-20.30 (online and on site at Phendeling): Contentment\n14th October 19.30-20.30 (online): Delight.\n\nThe next 4 meditations are on How We Act – with the subtitle: Every Skillful Action Makes a Better World. \nWe will meditate on \n\n28th October 19.30-20.30 (online): Kindness\n11th November 19.00-20.30 (online and on site at Phendeling): Honesty\n25th November 19.30-20.30 (online): Generosity\n9th December 19.00-20.30 (online and on site at Phendeling): Right Speech.\n\nSessions with the next 8 meditations will be offered in spring 2026. \n\n\n\n\nCost\n\n\nThe meditations are freely offered with a suggested donation is 25 kr. for each online session and 50 kr. for the onsite sessions. \n\nWhy meditate?\nWhen you control your mind with wisdom you create the space you need to discover peace and joy. Your life then becomes peaceful and joyful and somewhat protected from the ups and downs of the external world. For beginner to advanced meditators. \nMore info\nFor more information please visit the Centre’s website
