DESCRIPTION:About the Sessions\nJoin Peter Shepherd for the second of the in person immersive weekends at The Chenrezig Institute Wellbeing Centre to explore the 16 Guidelines in a retreat setting\,  you are welcome to attend the entire retreat\, join for a day or even one session! \nThese 16 guided meditations and discussions will take place over two immersive retreat weekends\, this will facilitate both an intellectual understanding and personal experience\, to act as a launching pad for you to bring them into your daily life. \nA Little bit of Background\nThe 16 guidelines are for everyone who would like to experience greater wellbeing\, ease\, contentment\, meaning\, fulfilment\, connection and joy. Each guideline is based on a positive quality. \nDiscoveries in neuroscience have shown that we have the potential to develop and transform our minds in a positive way. Practising these Guidelines can help strengthen our existing qualities and deepen our connection with others for a more meaningful and happier life. \nThe aim of the 16 Guidelines is to help people create long-term happiness and fulfilment for themselves and others. Each guideline represents a universal value or attitude which is rooted in the foundations of compassion and wisdom.  \nThe 16 guidelines are a contemporary presentation of ancient wisdom\, originating from the 7th-century King Songtsen Gampo from Tibet. They are a practical yet profound framework with which to orientate ourselves and our actions in the world. \nThere are precise causes of happiness and the 16 Guidelines is a powerful yet simple way for us to create these causes without needing to be associated with any particular belief or spiritual tradition. \n“Watch your thoughts\, they become your words; \nwatch your words\, they become your actions; \nwatch your actions\, they become your habits; \nwatch your habits\, they become your character; \nwatch your character\, it becomes your destiny.” \n– Lao Tzu \nBookings and Cost:\n\n\n\nThe recommended contribution is $120 but you are welcome to pay whatever you are comfortable with. He currently lives in Caloundra with his partner and work as a Zenthai Shiatsu therapist. His study of Zenthai Shiatsu\, Chinese Five Element Theory and Ayurveda have led him to explore the body-mind relationship in greater depth and he is passionate about how other traditions and modalities can support Buddhist practice.

There\, he established a western studies program for the monks.  \nHe is the principal at The Karuna Group\, a project engaged in interpreting Buddhist psychological theory and interventions for modern people. \nHe is the author of The Misleading Mind: How We Create Our Own Problems and How Buddhist Psychology Can Help Us Solve Them (2012).

What do we want to strengthen and what would we like to change We explore the question\, what do I really want\, what are our deepest wishes for our home\, ourselves\, and our children? \nClass TwoCreating Our Dreams:We explore practical and constructive ways to guide our children and nurture what we really want for our children and family. We explore how emotion is triggered and how we can start to change emotional triggers. In 1981\, she founded The Himalayan Yogic Institute\, now the Himalayan Buddhist Meditation Center in Kathmandu. \nAfter moving to the United States in 1988 with her husband and children\, and inspired by her teacher Lama Thubten Yeshe’s concept of Universal Education\, she founded Tara Preschool in 1989. Tara Preschool expanded into Tara Redwood School in 1998. In 2008 the curriculum developed at Tara Redwood School developed into an international program: Creating Compassionate Cultures. \nPam has taught and offered workshops in more than 10 countries around the world and she has spoken at notable conferences such as the Happiness Conference in San Francisco\, the Mind and Its Potential in Sydney\, Australia\, and Empathy and Compassion in Society in London\, England. \n
