SUMMARY:A Mindful Heart: Online Sunday sessions with Janna Weiss
DESCRIPTION:About the Sessions\nJoin Janna Weiss on Sundays for a new guided meditation course!   \nThe Mindful Heart course is inspired by the Creating Compassionate Cultures program (“CCC”) by Pam Cayton\, and developed by the Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom. \nGrounded in three core pathways of learning: Knowledge\, Strength\, and Compassion. These pathways guide you towards a happier\, more meaningful life by fostering inner growth and a warmer connection with others. \nDesigned to help you develop a deeper understanding of how the mind works. The aim is to gradually let go of destructive patterns of thought and behaviour while cultivating a healthy sense of self-confidence and a deep\, compassionate connection with others. \nYou are invited to reflect on your attitudes\, perceptions\, and emotional patterns. By exploring the workings of our own minds and the nature of our interdependence with others and the world around us\, we begin to see how deeply connected our inner and outer realities truly are. \nWe examine both logical and scientific perspectives on the nature of the self and our relationships with others. \nWhy joining\nAre you keen to work on your well-being and want to connect with others trying to make their life a little better for themselves and those around them?  \nEach  gathering begins with a calming meditation to fully arrive\, followed by an inspiring discussion on  a way of being that enriches your everyday life such as interconnection\, empathy\, compassion… We then dive into a focused meditation designed to help you embrace that way of being fully. \nMeet Janna every Sunday at 1:30–3:30pm EST/EDT and start your week feeling refreshed\, connected\, and inspired. Drop in to any\, or attend all! \n\nOpen to all\, beginners and experienced students alike!  \n\nSchedule and Themes\nThe course is delivered in 6 sessions:- \n\nSession 1: The Pursuit of Happiness and Understanding How Things Exist\nSession 2: Developing Healthy Self-Confidence and Compassion – Opening the Heart\nSession 3: Mindfulness\, Reflection and Critical Thinking and Mindful Intention: What do I really want?\nSession 4: Interconnection and Embracing Change\nSession 5: Perception and Transforming Harmful Emotions\nSession 6: Empathy and Cultivating Compassion\n\n\n\n\nHow to Register and Join \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese sessions are organized by The Shantideva Buddhist centre and are offered online on Sundays Feb 15\, 22\, Mar 1\, 8\,  & 29\, 1:30–3:30pm EST/EDT \nNote: Clocks change from Eastern Standard Time (EST)(GMT/UTC-5) to Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)(GMT/UTC-4) on Sun Mar 8 at 2am. Clocks will “spring forward” one hour. \nSuggested donation: $20 per session\, or $108 for all 6-weeks of the courseOther offering options: free\, $5\, $10\, $30 \nThe suggested amount helps support teacher offerings and expenses\, direct costs and rent.  \nFor more information and to register\, please visit the event page \n\nMeet your Facilitator\nJanna Weiss is a Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom (FDCW) trained facilitator for 16 Guidelines Levels 1 & 2 and Unlocking Your Potential\, and an Empathy Circle Facilitator and Trainer. SUMMARY:Summer Empathy Circles with Janna Weiss
DESCRIPTION:Empathy Circle with Janna Weiss\nOverview of the Sessions:\nIn this series of Empathy Circles with the 16 Guidelines\, we will explore the first Wisdom Theme: How We Think\, and its four Guidelines: \n\nHumility\nPatience\nContentment\nand Joy at the success of others / Delight.\n\nEmpathy Circles are an opportunity to practice and strengthen our active listening “empathy muscle” in an “empathy gym.” During the reflective listening practice\, we not only discuss the Guidelines\, but also embody and experience the Guidelines firsthand. \nBoth the 16 Guidelines and the Empathy Circle help grow and deepen our appreciation of our common humanity\, essential for cultivating genuine happiness\, and beneficial social action and harmony. \nThe first four Guidelines\, Humility\, Patience\, Contentment\, and Joy at the success of others\, are direct antidotes to our main afflictive minds: pride and self-centeredness that arise from our mistaken\, exaggerated view of self; anger and hatred; craving and greed; envy and jealousy. \nJanna will introduce each session with excerpts from the 16 Guidelines for Life: The Basics (included in the Conversations That Matter free resource)\, quotes\, and suggested topic questions\, or you can share whatever is alive in you. When it’s your turn to speak\, whatever is on your heart and mind is always welcome in an Empathy Circle. \nJoin any session—or all five! \nPlease come on time and plan on staying for the full 1.5 hours. \nAbout the Empathy Circles:\nThe Empathy Circle practice is the most effective gateway practice for learning\, practicing deep listening and empathy skills\, as well as nurturing an empathic way of being. \n\nThe Empathy Circle provides a structured dialogue process where each person feels fully heard; fostering mutual understanding and connection. The Empathy Circle practice not only hones empathy but also helps to develop a range of valuable skills\, such as communication and conflict management skills; making it a powerful tool for personal growth\, conflict resolution\, and meaningful dialogue. \nThe four core values of the Empathy Circle are empathy\, mutuality\, openness and caring. Sharing our experiences and practicing listening together can help us feel connected to others in a meaningful and supportive way. \nThese online Empathy Circles are for people of all ages and backgrounds\, who are looking for practical tools to create positive transformation in their homes\, individual lives\, relationships\, community\, or workplace. \nCurious?
