Announcing A Mindful Heart Course: a 12-Session Toolkit
This autumn, we are thrilled to launch A Mindful Heart, a comprehensive 12-session downloadable course designed specifically for facilitators.
If you are an educator, community leader, mindfulness teacher, or simply someone who wants to guide transformative journeys of inner growth, this toolkit will equip you to help participants understand their minds, transform patterns, and cultivate compassion.
Inspired by Pam Cayton’s invaluable Creating Compassionate Cultures (CCC) program, A Mindful Heart course is now available to everyone on a donation basis.
The Inspiration: Practical Wisdom for Group Facilitation
A Mindful Heart is designed as a form of Universal Education, an initiative rooted in the vision of Lama Yeshe, co-founder of the FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition). His wish was to share the practical methods for developing a warm heart and a wise mind with the wider world. As an organisation affiliated with the FPMT, FDCW continues this work today, creating secular resources that make these insights accessible to everyone.
This course draws on the expertise of Pam Cayton, a Universal Education programmes advocate. With decades of experience developing curricula and training facilitators worldwide, Pam has dedicated her work to translating contemplative practices into practical, everyday tools.
A Mindful Heart is built on the understanding that compassion and wisdom are not just abstract ideals, but practical skills we can cultivate and teach. As Pam explains in her recent interview:
“This approach is not rocket science. It’s really about belief in yourself and self-empowerment. We have the power in our own mind to change our way of viewing so we don’t get stuck. It’s seeing things scientifically and logically, and what that awakens in us is this empowerment and this wish to benefit others.”
As a facilitator, you will guide your participants through three interconnected pathways of learning:
- Knowledge: Helping participants explore their inner world of thoughts and feelings, and understand their deep connection to the world around them.
- Strength: Building the resilience and self-belief needed to adapt to life’s constant changes and persevere through difficulties.
- Compassion: Guiding the group to recognise our shared desire for happiness, and discovering the “magic of kindness” that unlocks joy for ourselves and others.
What You Will Deliver: A Structured 12-Session Journey
Rather than relying on heavy theory, A Mindful Heart provides you with a practical, step-by-step framework to guide your group through seven foundational steps, including mindful intention, interconnection, change, and perception.
The downloadable pack provides everything you need to run each session. Every class is thoughtfully structured to include a short presentation, guided meditation, and group sharing. This blend ensures your participants don’t just intellectually understand the concepts, but actually integrate them into their daily lives through the safe container you hold.
Proven Impact: Feedback from Our Global Pilot
Before its public launch, the A Mindful Heart pilot was run by facilitators across the UK, Canada, the US, Australia, and Switzerland. The feedback highlights the profound impact this structured guidance has on participants, including deep personal shifts, increased emotional resilience, and improved mental health.
Facilitators successfully created safe, trusting spaces that allowed for genuine connection and vulnerable sharing. As one participant noted:
“You have created a safe space for us and we are very comfortable to speak up. A space to share with trust, kindness, deep listening, compassion, and support.” — Séverine, Pilot Participant
The practical tools taught in the course led to profound real-life shifts for the groups. Participants reported moving out of “auto-pilot” mode, finding healthier relationships, and discovering a newfound sense of agency over their own happiness:
“I have discovered that I can make a choice to be happy. It can be cultivated. This is relatively new for me… It makes me think of the Law of Attraction or ‘what you think about, you bring about’.” — Pilot Participant
“Reflecting on how much of my reality I create was really interesting: feeling empowered to change what is not beneficial, by making a conscious choice.” — Pilot Participant
Who is this Course For?
This downloadable resource is primarily designed for facilitators, teachers, session leaders and anyone who brings groups together in their community. The content successfully balances secular accessibility with the depth of timeless wisdom, requiring no specific belief system from you or your participants.
Equip Yourself to Make a Difference This Autumn
As Pam Cayton says,
“Real happiness doesn’t need validation… It comes from growth, from creating something meaningful, from becoming someone you’re actually proud to be.”
A Mindful Heart gives you the tools, the structure, and the community support to help others achieve exactly that.
