Our Policies

Environmental Sustainability

FDCW acknowledges that the earth’s environment is under severe stress from uncontrolled human activity, threatening the survival of our society and the performance of FDCW’s mission.

FDCW accepts that it must work to preserve the environmental sustainability of the planet, at all levels of its operations – in its own practice, as a participant in a community of practice, and as a participant in the international social discourse

Minimising Impact on the Environment

FDCW aspires to minimise its impact on our environment and maximise the effective use of resources. We strive to achieve this by increasing communication and awareness of our efforts in accordance with this policy and fostering responsible environmental behaviour amongst employees, volunteers and clients at all levels

FDCW is investing in its digital portfolio and online products to minimise printed content, save trees and protect the environment. FDCW follows a work from home policy – no office means a much lower carbon footprint.

Sustainable Development

This Environmental Sustainability Policy aims to integrate a philosophy of sustainable development into all of FDCW’s activities and to establish and promote sound environmental practice in our operations.

FDCW commits itself to minimising its impact on our environment through:

  • Having an environmentally sustainable aware culture, where responsibility is assigned and understood e.g. when making purchasing decisions or travel arrangements
  • Being an environmentally responsible neighbour in our community e.g. using locally sourced and Fair Trade products whenever possible
  • Conserving natural resources by reusing and recycling and not using single use plastics
  • Using processes within FDCW that do not adversely affect the environment e.g. encouraging online learning or using the most sustainable travel methods to attend a meeting or course; using organic products as much as possible
  • Ensuring the responsible use of energy e.g. heating a room, heating a kettle, arranging virtual meetings or alternatives to global travel
  • Working with preferred suppliers who have and promote sound environmental practices
  • Participating in efforts to improve environmental protection and understanding
  • Taking continual steps to improve FDCW’s environmental performance
  • Enhancing awareness among employees, volunteers and stakeholders through educating and motivating them to act in an environmentally responsible manner
