Sharing Compassion – It’s Never Too late
It’s always a pleasure to hear from past students and supporters about how compassion is being shared with the wider community. We recently received an email with some heart-warming news from Janna, explaining how her elderly mother is sharing the 16 Guidelines book with others at her care home.
For several years she has been sharing copies of the 16 Guidelines for Life: The Basics
Eighty-eight-year-old Ruby Weiss lives in a nursing home in Israel. For several years she has been sharing copies of the 16 Guidelines for Life: The Basics. She gives away copies in English, Spanish and French to her fellow residents and employees.
“Rosa was absolutely ecstatic. She said it’s a great book.”
Despite having limited mobility, moving around the home with the aid of a walker, she carries the 16 Guidelines book and cards with her all the time. Ruby describes the reaction of one of the residents on receiving a copy of the 16 Guidelines book, “Rosa was absolutely ecstatic. She said it’s a great book.“
“He was so impressed by the book that he started leading discussions with the nursing home group.”
Recently she gave a copy of the 16 Guidelines to her social worker. He was so impressed by the book that he started leading discussions with the nursing home group. Yaki has led discussions so far on Humility and a second on Patience. Due to the success, he is continuing to run the discussion group on the 16 Guidelines on a regular basis.
“This is an example of how it is never too late, no matter what stage you are in life.”
This is precisely what 16G and Universal Education are all about – giving people the chance to bring positive changes into their lives and to feel happier. It’s very inspiring to hear how this is happening in a care home. This is an example of how it is never too late, no matter what stage you are in life. There is always time for bringing more compassion and kindness into our lives.
